Missing woman's body found floating in Ganges

The body of a 20-year-old woman was found floating in River Ganga today near Nawabganj Ghat in Ichapore area of North 24 Parganas district, the police said.
The body was identified as that of Mou Sarkar, a first year student of a college in Naihati and a resident of Dhankol area of Bijpur, the police said.
"The woman's father had lodged a complaint with the Bijpur police station stating that his daughter was missing since February 17. He had also alleged that an engineering student Bishnupada Sarkar could have kidnapped Mou Sarkar. We had detained the youth for questioning but, preliminary investigations did not indicate his involvement in the case.

"We are investigating the case and the body has been sent of post mortem," a senior district police officer said.
