The Mission launched by Aaranyak, a society for nature conservation and a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, would focus on cleaning different river side areas of the Brahmaputra and the community residing alongside will be made aware to maintain the cleanliness drive.
The mission received active participation of local communities and other related stakeholders, Project Head of 'Mission Clean Brahmaputra' Dr Abdul Wakid said.
"We are greatly encouraged to get such participation from different institutes, organisations and individuals," he said.
As a follow up of this launch, similar cleaning activities will be conducted in another 30 areas of Brahmaputra, which is already getting support from various governmental and non-governmental institutes, individuals and public figures of Assam.
