Polling for 19 municipal councils and two nagar panchayats in Aurangabad, Nanded, Bhandara and Gadchiroli districts took place yesterday.
As per the results that came out today, Congress won the municipal council in Khuldabad and Kannad, while the BJP won Paithan and Gangapur municipal councils.
Sources close to Sattar, who is the MLA from Sillod assembly constituency, said that he tendered his resignation as he was upset that the party leaders and office-bearers did not turn out for the election campaign and hence it had to lose in the two tehsils in the district.
