Ahead of thecrucialmulti statemeeting in New Delhi where the anti-Maoists strategy will be reviewed,Union Minister Hansraj Ahir today said development is the solution to eliminate the menace of naxalism.
The Minister of State for Home chaired a meeting in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district where 25 CRPF personnel were killed in a deadly naxal attack last week.
"The union minister of state extensively reviewed the development schemes underway in Sukma and also discussed problems being faced for its effective implementation during the meeting," a state public relation official said.
Ahir said the meeting which is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on May 8 is very crucial where the ground report of Sukma will be presented.
The entire country is worried over attacks in Sukma in the last one-and-a-half-month. The meeting has been held to ascertain the status of implementation of the Central schemes in the region and problems in its execution, the official quoted Ahir as saying in the meeting.
"The Centre has no dearth of funds for development schemes in the area. Both Centre and state agencies should work together for its effective implementation," the minister said.
Officials and contractors engaged in construction works in the region should discharge their duties realising their responsibilities. We will find out solution to their problems if any. Only through development, this region can get rid of naxalism, the MoS said.
Meanwhile, Sukma Collector Neeraj Bansod particularly informed about the development works which are facing hindrances by Maoists.
Ahir also stressed on the importance of expansion of telecommunication facility simultaneously with the roads.
"It is very necessary to provide telecommunication facility at the camps of security forces in the region," the MoS said.
"All the basic issues and problems being faced by this Maoist-hit district (Sukma) will be discussed in meeting on May 8," he added.
Over a query by mediapersons, Ahir said both the state and central armed forces will together ensure security to the road construction works in the region.
Earlier in the day, Ahir visited a private hospital in Raipur to see three security personnel, who were injured in a naxal attack in Gadchiroli district of neighbouring Maharashtra state yesterday.
On April 24, Naxalites had ambushed a patrolling team of CRPF's 74thbattalion near it's Burkapal camp under Chintagufa police station limits killing 25 troopers and injuring seven others.
