Ahead of Diwali and Chhath Puja, Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha today paid a surprise visit to the New Delhi Railway Station to get a firsthand view of crowd management and clearance of festival rush at the busy station.
Inspecting the Ajmeri Gate side of the station, the minister checked the working of main passenger interfaces like the main concourse area, platforms no. 8 and 12, the booking office and the Ticket Vending Machine.
He directed the officers present to review the planned East-bound special trains and to also assess whether more trains can be provided during the festive days.
He also gave directions to further beef up security arrangements especially at the platforms and to keep the foot over bridges clear by monitoring the crowd.
