A Naxal leader was killed in an encounter with police in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district today, an official said.
Sevak Ram, a Naxal 'commander', was killed in an encounter with police in a forest near Ravandiggi village, a police official told Bhasha/ PTI over phone.
A team of district police was patrolling the area after getting information about presence of Naxals under the Mainpur police station limits yesterday, he said.
The team came under fire near Ravandiggi village today and retaliated, he said.
Sevak Ram, the Naxal whose body was recovered from the spot after the rebels fled, was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, the police official added.
He was involved in many incidents of violence including killings, the official said.
