Need to balance human rights and development: Satyarthi

Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi today stressed on the need to balance human rights and development, which he said are the two sides of the "same coin".
Satyarthi was speaking at an event orgnaised by the National Human Rights Commission here.
"Human rights and development are two sides of the same coin. In ignoring one, you are challenging the other. The development discourse is incomplete without ensuring collective and individual human rights to one and all," he said.
NHRC today observed its 22nd Foundation Day.
At a media interaction, its acting chairperson Justice Cyriac Joseph spoke on a range of issues including the recent Dadri lynching which he termed as a "serious" violation of human rights.
