60-year old Premavathy, who is a distinguished professor and HOD in the Department of Special Education from 1995-2015, was acting- vice-chancellor in the university from August last year.
She was honoured with National Award for Empowerment of persons with disability and Shiksha Ratan Award in 2010, Best Teacher's Award for Disabled persons and Commonwealth Fellowship for Diploma in Scotland by British Council, it said.
