Newborn dead, five injured in accident

A newborn died and five other members of a family were injured in a collision between a car and a truck near a village in Samastipur district of Bihar, a police officer said.
Among the injured was a pregnant woman who gave birth to a child at Sadar Hospital but the newborn died soon after birth, the police said.
The mishap took place near Baldeopur village as a car carrying five members of a family, including the pregnant woman, collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite side, Kalyanpur police station in-charge Amjad Ali said.
All the five occupants of the vehicle, including four women, sustained injuries, he said.

The injured persons were undergoing treatment at Sadar hospital, Ali added.
