West Bengal power minister Shobhandeb Chatterjee today said the power sub-station at Singur on the abandoned Tata nano site would be removed over time for the convenience of villagers.
"We will remove the sub-station but in a process villagers do not suffer due to relocation. About one lakh people get power from this sub-station," Chatterjee told reporters after a visit to Singur.
He said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would visit Singur and hold a meeting where she is expected to distribute cheques among unwilling farmers.
He said government was confident in adhering to the timeline offered by the apex court in returning land to the farmers.
