The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has issued a show cause notice to a waste-to-energy plant owned by Jindal group seeking explanation for the uncontrolled emission in violation of norms in 15 days, failing which the plant will be shut down.
The notice dated January 10 was issued to the plant located in Okhla in South Delhi for emission from its pollution control devices.
"There are uncontrolled emission from the pollution control devices of the plant episodically. We have held various inspections in the past following which the show cause notice was issued," a DPCC official said.
Last week, a protest march was taken out in Okhla against the release of toxic emissions from the plant with protestors alleging that the company was responsible for release of dangerous emissions near their houses in violation of Supreme Court orders.
The National Green Tribunal had also directed the company last year to improve its pollution control measures or face closure.
