NR GM meets Har CS, discusses implementation of rail projects

Senior Northern Railway officials today met with Haryana Chief Secretary to discuss ways to accelerate the pace of implementation of various rail projects in the state.
General Manager, Northern Railway, Ajay Kumar Puthia met Haryana Chief Secretary D S Dhesi, an official spokesperson said, adding various rail projects, including surveys for new rail lines, electrification of Rohtak-Bathinda-Lehra-Mohabbat section and laying of new tracks, construction of rail over-bridges (RoB) and rail under bridges (RuB) were among the issues discussed at the meeting.
Senior officers of Haryana and Northern Railway were also present at the meeting.
Formation of Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) between the state and the railways in the state so that rail projects could be speed up was also discussed.
Among the projects to be taken up after formation of the SPV include setting up of proposed Rail Coach Factory in Sonipat district of Haryana.
An agreement between the Railway Ministry and Haryana Government is expected to be signed soon to set up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
The Rail Coach factory would be set up on Public Private Partnership mode in Sonipat district, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu announced during his recent visit to preside over a function to mark the commencement of the electrification work of Rohtak-Bathinda-Lehra-Mohabbat section.
The other rail projects proposed to be undertaken in the state include modernisation of Rohtak and Gurgaon railway stations, commencement of new trains, including between Bhiwani and Hardwar, laying of new railway lines of Karnal- Yamunanagar, Fatehabad-Mansa, Ferozepur Jhirka-Alwar, Hissar- Sirsa via Agroha besides Jind-Sonipat railway line.
