Odisha among 4 leading states in export promotion activities

Quoting a letter form union government, special secretary of MSME Panchanan Das said that in Export front Odisha had recorded a growth rate of 36.54 per cent. Total export figures of the state in 2010-11 crossed Rs 17,000 crore against the total export of Rs 12,000 cr in 2009-10.

Reviewing the ongoing projects under Assistance to States for Development of Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities (ASIDE), Chief Secretary B K Patnaik today asked the department to take up aggressive marketing activities among the business organizations and industrial houses for optimum utilization of infrastructure already created.

Ongoing projects under the scheme include construction of ITES/BPO towers in Bhubaneswar, Auto Park at Mania village in Cuttack, equity participation of government in Haridaspur-Paradeep board gauge rail link, 132 KV line and sub-station with 12.5 MVA capacity for Daitari, MSME soft ware park of the state owned Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), setting up of an export oriented design cell, apparel park at Kurki, common processing center at Dhamara harbour, vertical expansion of CIPET building, corridor road at Kalinganagar industrial complex.

The new projects sanctioned by SLEPC (State Level Export Promotion Committee) include establishment of filigree center at Cuttack, establishment of world trade center at Bhubaneswar, Angul-Duburi-Sukinda Rail Link, IT corporate tower in Chandka industrial area and creation of IT incubation center in the infocity Chandka.

The recent projects being considered by the Committee under ASIDE scheme include Improvement of approach road to Balaramgadi fishing center, Chandipur with proposed amount of at Rs 1.8 Crore, aluminum park at Angul with proposed amount of Rs 10 Crore and incubation center at infovalley at Goudakashipur with proposed amount of Rs 20 Crore.

So far a total amount of Rs 88.21 crore has been utilized against the receipt of Rs 91.08 crore received under the scheme. The allotment for 2012-13 is Rs 18 Crore.
