Online auto-rickshaw booking service launched in east Delhi

Residents of east Delhi will now be able to book auto-rickshaws online as an Ahmedabad-based group today launched its "commuter-friendly" service in the national capital after its successful run in various cities in Gujarat, a top EDMC official said.
The 'G-Auto' service run by Nirmal Foundation was launched in partnership with East Delhi Municipal Corporation at the civic body's headquarters at Patparganj here by its Mayor Ram Narayan Dubey.
"As a pilot service, we have launched 50 auto-rickshaws so far. Residents in east Delhi will now be able to book these three-wheelers online from 6 am to 12 pm. The bookings can be made on call centre number 011-6444-4441. The service will be made available 24X7 in future," EDMC Public Relations Officer Yogendra Singh Mann said today.

"The booking can also done through the website www.G-auto.Org", Mann said.
The rates of hiring the G-Autos will be as per the rates set by the government with an addition of Rs 15 for service charges, the Mayor said in a statement.
"At present, a control room has been set up at Dilshad Garden. And though calls can be made from outside east Delhi, the service is essentially for east Delhi residents and they will be first catered to. The autos anyway will not entertain long-distance requests," he said.
Equipped with GPS, the service launched in Gujarat a few years ago, sought to bring safety and comfort to passengers, and income and job satisfaction to auto-drivers.
