The opposition parties are trying to malign Prime Minister Narendra Modi's image as they are "rattled" by the "wide support" his demonetisation move has received from the public, newly appointed Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari claimed today.
He also said the party will hold contact programmes cross the national capital tomorrow to help people learn about cashless transaction and "dispel rumours" being spread by different parties about demonetisation.
The opposition are "spreading rumours" about demonetisation, which is intended to stem black money from the country, he alleged while addressing his maiden press conference after taking charge as BJP's Delhi unit chief.
"Many political parties with stashed cash are raising hue and cry over demonetisation, but people are ready to bear the inconveniences for the sake of the nation," Tiwari claimed.
He also hit out at AAP saying, "Those who earlier claimed to work to remove corruption are now opposing demonetisation."
Earlier in the day, BJP workers, led by party MP Ramesh Bidhuri, protested near Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence over the latter's stand against demonetisation and "stalled" development works in south Delhi villages and "unauthorised" colonies.
