Over 1 lakh challaned for violating traffic norms

More than one lakh motorists were fined for driving against the flow of traffic in three months in the national capital, police said today.
"Since January 1 this year, around 1,03,670 motorists have been challaned for driving on the wrong side of the road (against the flow of traffic), of whom around 43,000 were also booked for dangerous driving," Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Muktesh Chander said.
Also, as many as 312 persons were arrested for rash and negligent driving punishable under section 279 of IPC, he added.
