The militants fired two rockets at the Kalaya Headquarters in Orakzai agency, injuring seven soldiers in the attack.
One of the injured died on his way to hospital while six others are receiving medical treatment, the Dawn reported.
As many as eighteen suspected militants and six soldiers were killed during a gun-battle in Orakzai Agency last month.
Orakzai is one of Pakistan's seven semi-autonomous tribal regions in the northwest, where Pakistani Taliban and Al Qaeda-linked militants are said to have carved out strongholds.
More than 1,200 militants have been killed in these operations. Army says the offensives would continue till militancy is crushed.
