Panchayat polls: 30 cartons of illegal liquor seized, 2 held

In a drive against illegal supply of liquor ahead of Panchayat polls, officials of the excise department seized 30 cartons of liquor near Kinoni village under Shahpur police station in the district.
Two persons - Vimal and Udayvir - were arrested and the vehicle allegedly used in the smuggling of liquor seized from their possession, District Excise Officer Kunendra Singh said.
A team of officials of the district excise department led by inspector Himmat Singh, intercepted a Maruti van and seized the 30 cartons of liquor last evening, he said.
The two accused have accepted that the liquor was being smuggled for supply in the gram pradhan polls.

Election to 498 seats of gram pradhan in Muzaffarnagar district would take place in four phases.
The nominations for the first phase starts tomorrow.
