A passenger was today allegedly pushed out of the running Kanchenjunga Express by a ticket collector for his inability to cough up a fine for travelling in a reserved compartment without a proper ticket.
Md Alauddin, the 40-year-old passenger, a resident of Khanpur village of Malda district had boarded the train from Farakka where he had gone for treatment.
When a ticket collector asked for his ticket, he produced his general compartment ticket for which he was asked to cough up a fine of Rs 1090.
Alauddin, a daily labourer, said when he pleaded his inability to pay the sum and wanted to disembark at Samsi station, an argument ensued and he was pushed out of the slowing train at Samsi .
Alauddin, who claimed to have sustained an injury on his waist, was admitted to Chanchal Primary Centre.
He also said he had lodged a complaint with the Railway police at Samsi.
When contacted IC, GRP, Malda Town Station, Krishnagopal Dutta said no written complaint had been lodged at Samsi. The passenger had verbally narrated the incident to the Samsi station master.
"If a written complaint is filed, the matter will be enquired into", he said.
The GRP IC also said that S1 and S2 coaches were overcrowded with unauthorised passengers without having reservation. "It is unlikely that there was a scuffle".
Moreover, the Railway police had also not rescued any injured man lying on the platform.
