Pb govt to give skill development training to 1L youths every

The Punjab government has planned to provide skill development training to one lakh youths every year to meet demand for skilled manpower from the industrial sector, state Technical Education Minister Madan Mohan Mittal said today.
Mittal said the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training has taken landmark steps to bolster vocational training and skill development programmes so that the students belonging to the state do not lag behind in terms of acquiring latest skills.
He said technical education quality improvement programme at a cost of Rs 83.90 crore is operational in eight engineering colleges to improve the standard of education.

The Minister said body and paint shops have been set up at ITI Ludhiana and ITI Lalru.
"The result of this unique venture has been excellent with the placement record of students passing out being cent per cent," he said.
Two multi-disciplinary academies have been established and five institutes christened as Punjab Institute of Technology have been set up in the state with a sum of Rs 91. 77 crore, he said.
The Minister said five new ITIs are being set up at Adampur in Jalandhar, Maloud in Ludhiana, Niari in Gurdaspur, Manakpur Sharif in Mohali and Singhpura in Rupnagar.
