In a petition submitted to police, the family members claimed that the eight persons were taken to Malaysia, by a job consultant on the promise of getting skill-based employment with a monthly salary of Rs 30,000. Each of them had paid Rs 85,000 in November last year.
However, they were not given proper job and for the past four months working without salary, the family members said adding their passports had been taken by the employers.
His employers were forcing him to work more than 16 hours a day and provided only a limited meal, she said.
All the eight were locked up in a room and were not allowed to even use cell phone, the petitioners said.
City Police Commissioner A K Viswanathan assured to take efforts to rescue the eight persons, police said.
