The committee had issued a notice to DGP yesterday directing him to arrest and produce the inspector Ratna Gupta before the committee at 11 am but she was not found at her house when police went to her house today.

"She was not found at her house and we are informing the assembly," DCP South Don K Jose said.

Meeting of the privilege committee headed by ruling party MLA Surendra Singh Jadawat is going on to take a decision following the development.

Gupta, who is currently posted at Rajasthan Police Academy, is also absent from duty.

Official Sources said that she was absent from duty without prior information and last night forwarded a letter to the academy authorities saying she was sick hence unable to attend the office.

However, the sources said that a department inquiry has already been initiated against her.

It was alleged by the members of Woman and Child welfare committee of the assembly that Gupta, then in charge of Mahila police station Gandhi Nagar Jaipur, misbehaved with them when they had gone to the station for a sudden inspection on July 19, 2010.

Head of the committee and BJP legislator Suryakanta Vyas submitted report to the Speaker who referred the matter to the privilege committee.

The privilege committee issued 4 notices to the inspector directing her to appear before the committee for statement, but instead of appearing before the committee she approached the High Court against the notices.

The High Court earlier this month issued notice to the privilege committee seeking reply.

Objecting the move of the woman inspector, the privilege committee then directed the DGP to arrest and produce her before the committee. MORE
