Lokayukta police today conducted a raid at the official residence of an assistant professor with a prestigious technology institute here and unearthed 'huge' unaccounted wealth amassed by him, disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The action was taken against Rishi Kumar Singh (40), assistant professor at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) here, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Tiwari told PTI.
"We raided 4/1 number house of Singh on MANIT campus and bared huge wealth, including immovable properties that he has amassed in the city and the adjoining Sehore district," Tiwari said.
He said the raid was conducted following a complaint against Singh, stating that he has amassed huge ill-gotten wealth.
"According to our investigations so far, he has accumulated wealth to the tune of Rs 2 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income," Tiwari added.
After the preliminary investigation, Singh has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, he added.
According to the documents recovered, it came to light that Singh owns a duplex, two flats, a shop, a tract of land, 6,000 sq ft farm house land in the district and two farm houses spread in an area of 30,000 sq ft each in Sehore district, lokayukta officials said.
He owns three cars- Audi Q3, Honda Accord and Skoda Fabia, they said.
"Singh has been working with MANIT since 2005 and his income from salary was Rs 46 lakh so far," Tiwari said.
