Thousands of passengers were stranded at different stations on the busy Sealdah main section, with trains to destinations like Kalyani, Ranaghat and Santipur unable to run.
The disruption from 5.10 pm to 6.30 pm was caused due to snapping of high-tension line of West Bengal State Electricity Development Corporation Ltd (WBSEDCL) at Titagarh in North 24 Parganas district, the Eastern Railway official said.
Due to this, power supply to overhead wires between Agarpara and Shyamnagar stations were disrupted.
