A UP couple has reiterated their claim that Geeta, the deaf-mute Indian woman living in Pakistan after accidentally crossing the border over a decade ago, is their daughter and said they were ready for a DNA test to prove their parentage.
Geeta has identified her father, step-mother and siblings from a photograph sent to her by the Indian High Commission in Islamabad but a DNA test will be conducted to confirm parentage, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
The family reportedly lives in Bihar.
However, a couple here has said they are ready for a DNA test to prove that Geeta is their daughter.
Ramraj and Anara Devi of Purerama village said Geeta is their daughter and they will meet her when she returns to India.
Devi claimed that they daughter Savita had gone missing when she had gone to meet her brother in Chhapra, Bihar in 2004.
"I am ready to undergo a DNA test to prove that she is my daughter and when she will be back in India, I will go to meet her," Devi said.
