Prez, VP to visit Shimla, security tightened

Elaborate security arrangements have been made here in view of the visits of President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice-President Hamid Ansari.
Mukherjee will arrive on June 11 for a four day holiday with no important official engagement and stay at the Retreat in Mashobra, the summer residence of the President, 15 km from the state capital.
The President would attend a dinner hosted by the Governor Kalyan Singh at Raj Bhawan on June 12, official sources said.
The security has been beefed up and 15 companies have been deployed at all venerable places and alternate traffic plan has been put in place to avoid any inconvenience to people by VVIP movement, Superintendent of Police D W Negi said.

Meanwhile, Ansari is arriving here tomorrow on a three- day visit.
The Vice-President will confer degrees at the convocation ceremony of Himachal Pradesh University on June 9 and research centre of Dr Y S University of Horticulture and Forestry at Mashobra.
He will stay at Raj Bhawan. State government is hosting a dinner in his honour on June 9.
An alumnus of St Edward's School here, Ansari would also meet his alma mater tomorrow evening. He will leave for New Delhi on June 10.
