Extending support to the November 29 bandh called by local farmers association in Karaikal, in the tail end of Cauvery basin, to protest Karnataka's move, PCC President A V Subramanian asked the Union Territory government to approach the court independently to safeguard the interests of its ryots.
In a release here, he said already Karaikal had been starved of the river water as it lies at the tail end of the Cauvery basin.
The bandh has been called by the Karaikal Agriculturists Welfare Association.
He also wanted the government to raise the relief given to farmers in distress from present Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 per acre.
