Punjab government has enhanced the scholarship under apprenticeship training scheme to encourage youth towards entrepreneurship.
Announcing this today, Technical Education and Industries Minister Madan Mohan Mittal said that ITI students have to undergo one year training programme, and those passing 10th or 8th class will have to undergo two and four year direct training programme to complete their technical curricula.
All ITI students have to undergo mandatory training programme under the apprenticeship Training Act 1961, he added.
Mittal said that the scholarship for first year has been enhanced from Rs 1,490 to Rs 2,100, for second year from Rs 1,700 to Rs 2,400, third year from Rs 1,970 to Rs 2,800 and fourth year from Rs 2,220 to Rs 3,100 per month.
He said that this initiative has been taken to encourage the students for professional education to compete at national and international level and enable them to get self employed.
To achieve this target, Department of Technical Education has tied up with the Education Department to encourage the students to get industrial training, Mittal said.
He said the Punjab government has approved two government institutions, Government Press Patiala and Government Basic Training Centre Hoshiarpur to get admissions in entrepreneurship training.
Besides, private sector units like Punjab Tractor Limited, DCM Engineering Products, Leader Engineering Works Limited and Mugal Goetage India Limited have also been enlisted for such training.
