Rahul Gandhi discusses poll strategy with Karnataka leaders

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today discussed with Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and other state leaders the party's strategy and preparedness for assembly elections due next year.
Besides Siddaramaiah, Karnataka-Congress incharge KC Venugopal, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President G Parmeshwar, KPCC working presidents S R Patil and Dinesh Gundu Rao attended the two-hour long meeting.
Senior Congress leaders from the state Mallikarjuna Kharge and Veerappa Moily were also present.
Parmeshwar said the "roadmap" for the 2018 Assembly elections was discussed in detail.
"How the party should face the elections, what should be the strategy - all this was discussed in the meeting. Some suggestions have also been given," he said after the meeting.
The KPCC also updated the party's preparedness for elections and shared information on the work done by both the party and the state government in Karnataka, he added.
Parmeshwar said that Gandhi has asked the KPCC to further step up preparations for the polls.
On the issue of delay in distribution of tickets to candidates, he said, "We discussed all this in the meeting. This is part of our strategy. We do it as per our convenience".
He said there were no "differences" between him and Siddaramaiah and the 2018 assembly polls will be contested under the CM's leadership.
After two months, a meeting with be called again to discuss the poll strategy, he added.
Leaders will travel across the state and tell public about the work undertaken by the state government. The party workers will distribute booklet on Congress government achievement to about 1.10 crore households, he added.
