Raid on cricket betting den; 12 held

Twelve bookies were arrested for betting on IPL matches here and goods worth nearly Rs 2 lakh seized from them, police said today.
A surprise raid was carried out last night after a tip off about betting in Virani Talkies area, Wani Police Station Officer Sudhakar Ambhore said.
Cash amounting to Rs 6,900, a briefcase containing 43 mobile phones, two coolers, a TV set, a printer, laptop, 'matka' (gambling) material and other goods amounting to over Rs 1.85 lakh were recovered from the spot.
All the accused have been remanded in police custody by a local court.
