Rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh

Moderate rain occurred in some parts of Himachal Pradesh today and the MeT office warned of thunderstorm, accompanied by squall and hailstorm, in mid-hills on April 19 and 20.

The forecast of a wet weather in the next few days has kept farmers and fruit growers on tenterhooks. Hailstorm and squall in mid-hills this time are disastrous for standing wheat crop, stone fruit crop and apple crop.

The MeT office also predicted rain and thunderstorm at isolated places in mid- and- lower-hills and rain or snow at isolated places in higher hills from April 18 to April 21.

Today, Udaipur was the wettest with 9 mm of rainfall. Salooni, Kheri and Pachhad received 7 mm rains, followed by Kandaghat and Dalhousie 5 mm, Seobagh, Dharampur and Shimla 4 mm, and Bharmaur, Manali, Kasauli Bhuntar and Gohar 3 mm.

The day temperature rose marginally and Una in the foothills was the hottest with a high of 36.7 degrees Celsius. Sundernagar and Nahan recorded the maximum at 33 and 32.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Solan and Bhuntar 29, Dharamshala 26.8, Shimla 23, Manali 17.6, Kalpa 17.4 and Keylong 11.7 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature remained steady and Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest with a low of 0.1 degree Celsius, followed by Manali 3.6, Kalpa 4, Shimla and Bhuntar 9.5, Solan 11.2, Sundernagar 12.7, Dharamshala 13.2, Nahan 14, Palampur 16.5 and Una 18 degrees Celsius.
