The sudden change in weather caused trouble in traffic and people who were on the roads had to take shelter in road side buildings to escape massive raining with gooseberry-sized hailstones.
The hailstorms continued for a few minutes before rainfall and took a toll on stray animals and birds.
There was snow-like cover and also reports of damage of vehicles windscreens in some areas.
Police said there was no report of any mishap so far though traffic affected and jam occurred near some intersections.
According to MeT office, areas in Kota division recorded light rains till morning today since yesterday.
Jhalawar, Rawatbhata, Kota and Bundi recorded 12, 3.1, 2 and 1 mm rainfall respectively till morning, it said.
