Thackeray asked his party's officer-bearers to open accounts of web-based application 'Skype' that would enable seamless personal interactions.
The idea of online interactions with party workers was mooted by him at the MNS's closely guarded day-long conclave here, attended by around 500 functionaries.
After a disastrous performance in the state Assembly polls held last year and the subsequent exit of key functionaries, the conclave was organised to motivate the 'dispirited' party workers, who were barred from using cell phones in the course of the meet and were not allowed to leave until the end of the session.
"He cited an example of BJP veteran L K Advani on how he overcame the then Jan Sangh's humiliating defeat in the elections in late 1950's. Advani had got inspiration from Latadidi's (Mangeshkar) song 'Jyoti Kalash Chhalke' in the film 'Bhabhi Ki Chudiya' (1961). That song inspired him to fight back. And see how well he has done after that," the official quoted Thackeray as saying.
"There is no need to listen to what others have to say. Don't forget that Mumbai has got Marathi sign boards only because of the MNS. We have done a lot of things for the welfare of our state. Ensure all this reaches to the people," he said.
