RBI officials meet Kol Police STF in fake currency racket case

Senior Reserve Bank of India (RBI) officials today met Kolkata Police Special Task Force (STF) officers in connection with the fake currency note racket, which was busted few days back in the city.
A senior Kolkata Police officer, on condition of anonymity, said the RBI officials and STF officers discussed about the dice for making notes, which was seized and the kind of economic threat the racket posed.
In the backdrop of a major seizure of fake currencies of different countries with a face value of about Rs ten crore by a team of the Kolkata Police STF, various intelligence agencies including the RAW and the NIA were coordinating among themselves, trying to unearth the racket behind it.

Acting on a tip-off, the police caught a man identified as Chandrashekar Jaiswal, a scrap dealer with the fake currency notes.
Later, fake currency notes of different countries with a face value of about Rs ten crore was seized from a middle-aged person in Howrah district yesterday and another person was arrested.
The STF had raided a house at Domjur in Howrah and seized fake currencies of different countries -- including US Dollar, Turkey Lira, Zimbabwean Dollar, besides Indian Rupee.
