The Thane Railway Police had registered a case of accidental death, but relatives and locals termed it a case of sexual abuse and murder. To press their demands, they squatted in the civil hospital premises throughout the day today.
Later, the Thane Railway Police registered an offence under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons.
However, her relatives and locals were not satisfied with the postmortem report and insisted on a second postmortem done, after which the girl's body was sent for second postmortem to JJ Hospital, official sources said.
Meanwhile, a delegation of agitating women met the district collector who assured them that he would take action in the matter, but they told him point blank that they had no no faith in him at all.
It is only after a forensic report, that any conclusion could be arrived at, civil hospital officials said.
