Relief camps in 3 AP districts shut as 'Phailin' peters out

With the threat of cyclone Phailin dissipating, all relief camps in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts in north coastal Andhra Pradesh are being closed today even as restoration works are going on at a brisk pace.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reviewed the situation with Chief Secretary P K Mohanty and other officials today and directed them to complete enumeration of losses soon, according to a press release from the Chief Minister's Office.
Officials from the Coconut Development Board in Bengaluru are reaching Srikakulam to assess the damage caused to coconut plantations in 3219 hectares due to the cyclone.

Power supply to villages in Srikakulam district, which bore the brunt of 'Phailin', would be restored fully by tomorrow, except in a few hamlets which still remained marooned, the release added.
Road network has also been restored with the clearing of uprooted trees.
The flood in Vamsadhara river was also receding with rains taking a break, the release said.
