Robbers decamp with cash, jewellery worth lakhs

A gang of unidentified men allegedly robbed two houses of cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees in separate incidents at Aliganj city here.
In the first incident, a gang of robbers broke into the house of one Tofiq Ahmed and escaped with Rs 75,000 and gold and silver jewellery worth several lakhs of rupees, Mukesh Kumar, Station Officer, Kotwali Aliganj said.
The culprits thereafter entered the house of one Irshad and escaped with Rs 10,000 and silver jewellery worth thousands of rupees, he said.
Both the incidents took place on the intervening night of November 12 and 13.
A case has been registered against unidentified men following complaints by both the house-owners, Kumar said.

No arrests have been made, neither have the stolen goods recovered so far, he said.
The probe is on in the matter, police added.
