Lifetime is behind the yet-untitled feature, which will tell the story from the perspective of Robert's missing wife, Kathie Durst, who many assume was murdered by Robert.
Kathie disappeared in 1982 and, while Robert was a suspect after she vanished, he was never charged, reported Variety.
The network has optioned Matt Birkbeck's book "A Deadly Secret: The Bizarre and Chilling Story of Robert Durst", to use as script source material.
Emmy-nominated screenwriter Bettina Gilois will pen the movie.
Real estate millionaire Robert, also known as Bobby, is currently serving time behind bars for a weapons charge.
Robert was tried for the 2001 killing, but was eventually acquitted due to lack of forensic evidence.
Robert is expected back in court this month to be arraigned on murder charges for the killing of Susan.
