Rs 1 lakh fine collected as fine for use of tobacco publicly

In a major drive to implement the order banning smoking at public places, police today recovered nearly one lakh rupees as fine from 1,100 offenders here.
"A drive was launched to implement Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) in Srinagar, during which Rs 95,000 was recovered as fine from 1,100 offenders who were found smoking at public places," a police spokesman said.
He said the drive was launched against smokers at bus stops, offices, hospitals and educational institutions.
