The foundation stone for 66/11 KV Grid Sub-Station in West Delhi's Najafgarh was laid today.

To be built at a cost of around Rs 30 crore, it will be the 78th in BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) area of south and west Delhi.

It will substantially improve the power and water supply for nearly three lakh people, BRPL said in statement.

The grid is being constructed in partnership with Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

"Najafgarh and adjoining areas are witnessing an accelerated level of growth. I am sure setting-up this Grid Sub-Station will help power this development," Power Minister Haroon Yusuf said after laying the foundation stone.

The power demand in west Delhi is growing at around 10 to 12 per cent annually. The present load capacity in the area is 150 MVA (120 MW). After commissioning of the Sub-Station, the Grid capacity in the area will increase by 50 MVA, BRPL said.
