Rs 5 lakh looted from bank's cash van in Chandigarh

In a daring incident, unidentified miscreants today looted Rs 5 lakh cash from a bank's cash van here and left one security guard injured during the robbery.
The incident took place outside State Bank of Patiala at its Khuda Ali Sher branch here at around 11:30 am when around 10 assailants in two vehicles allegedly attacked the cash van and decamped with Rs 5 lakh cash of the Rs 67 lakh kept in the van, a police official said here.
"Rs 5 lakh was looted out of Rs 67 lakh which was kept in van," UT Chandigarh SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill told reporters here.

The assailants, who were armed with sharp-edged weapons and pistol, also injured one of the two security guards sitting in the van who resisted the robbery, police said.
Gill further said DSP Crime, DSP Operation and DSP Central have been entrusted with job of tracing the miscreants.
