RSP registers best ever Q1 performance in key areas

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has set new benchmarks of success by recording best ever production in key areas during April-June of 2014-15.
In the first quarter of current fiscal, the Steel Plant produced 7,42,072 tonne of Hot Metal, 6,70,218 tonnes of Crude Steel and 6,35,039 tonne of saleable steel thereby scripting its best ever performance in these three vital areas for any Q1, RSP said in a release today.
Besides, production of HR coil for sale touched an all time high of 2,42,330 tonne while the Plate Mill Plate production was the best since inception at 1,25, 814 tonnes.
RSP also made 33,632 tonnes of Cold Rolled sheets and Coils which is a growth of 33.9 per cent over the corresponding period last year, while the CRNO steel production was to the tune of 17,667 tonne which is again a growth of 5.6 per cent over the Q1 of 2013-14.

By clocking specific energy consumption of 6.597 Giga Calorie per tonne of Crude Steel, the Steel Plant also registered its best ever performance in this vital techno-economic parameter, it said.
The first quarter of the current fiscal also witnessed significant progress in the areas of modernisation and expansion. The New Sinter Plant-III produced 4,74,048 tonne of sinter in this period which is the best ever, while the New Coke Ovens Battery- 6 has registered highest ever average rate of 76.8 oven pushings per day.
The new Converter-C and the New Plate Mill commenced operation successfully in the month of June that has made RSP reach the last leg of its current phase of modernisation and expansion programme, the release added.
