Scheme to provide meal to labourers launched in C'garh

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today launched 'Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shram Anna Sahayata Yojna' under which nutritious meal for Rs 5 will be provided to labourers in the state.
Under the scheme, first Shram Anna Sahayata centre was inaugurated here in Telibandha area where around 1,000 labourers will be served meal daily between 8 am to 10 am.
The centre has been constructed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh.
Speaking at the opening ceremony,Singh said that as many as 60 such food centres will be set up step by step in 27 districts of the states which will cater to atleast 60,000 labourers on a regular basis.
Workers can either have meal at the facility or get it packed in tiffins, he added.
Social service organisations will be roped in to operate these centres. Although, it will be supervised by the officials of labour department, he added.
Meanwhile, a skill development centre set up in the same premises was also dedicated by the chief minister on the occasion.
Girls and women from the families engaged in rag picking will be given skill development training in varied disciplines including stitching, cooking and others there.
