Patna district administration today held a meeting with principals of over 150 schools and directed them to maintain high security standards.
District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal ordered closure of two schools for not installing CCTV cameras despite an earlier instruction.
"Instructions for reopening the two schools would be given only after they install CCTV cameras as directed earlier," it said.
The district magistrate formed four teams would carry out "surprise" inspections of schools to ascertain whether their authorities are abiding by security instructions like installation of CCTV cameras, installation of GPS in school buses and proper boundary wall around the school building.
He also directed the schools to put up a suggestion box within 15 days for parents to give advise.
The key of the suggestion box should be with the principal and videography be done while opening it on a regular basis, he said.
Besides a committee should be constituted under POSCO Act in every school and awareness session should be organised for students on security among others.
"Special classes should be held to make girl students aware about good touch and bad touch," the DM said.
The schools should provide necessary information to parents through SMS and they should keep updating the school website to keep them abreast with happenings in the school, the statement added.
The steps follow the brutal killing of a seven-year-old student at Ryan International School at Gurugram last week.
