Scientist P M Bhargava cremated
Press Trust of India Hyderabad The mortal remains of renowned scientist P M Bhargava, who passed away here two days ago, were cremated here today.
The cremation was conducted with official honours at a crematorium at Jubilee Hills here, a Telangana government release said.
Police fired in the air as a mark of respect to the departed soul, it said.
Senior officials of the state government were present on the occasion, it said.
Bhargava was the Founder Director of CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) here.
Telangana government Chief Secretary S P Singh placed a wreath on the mortal remains of Bhargava at his residence earlier, CCMB sources said.
Bhargava was a recipient of numerous awards, including Padma Bhushan, which he had returned in 2005 in protest against allegedly rising intolerance in the country under the NDA regime.
