The accident involving four vehicles occurred at Chidderwala when the accelerator of a truck broke off and it came to a sudden halt after hitting a building material mixer coming from the opposite direction, Raiwala police said.
As the truck came to a sudden halt two vehicles coming behind it including a Tata Indica car and a Mahindra jeep carrying Haridwar's Daksha Mandir Mahamandelshwar Vishwadevanand Ji Maharaj rammed into each other.
Two persons including the seer were killed on the spot and five others were injured.
The five injured are still under treatment at the hospital.
The body of the Mahamandleshwar has been taken to his ashram at Haridwar.
