Select base metals slid on lower demand

Most of the base metals including, copper, tin, lead and zinc slid further at the non-ferrous metal market here today on stockists selling amid lower demand from industrial users despite mild recovery at the London Metal Exchange (LME).
Meanwhile, brass prices recovered owing to fresh demand from consumer industries.
At the London Metal Exchange (LME), copper edged up in early trade, but was set to close the week flat, having failed to post a convincing rebound from last weeks' 5-1/2 year lows ahead of China factory data due shortly.
Tin dropped by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,470 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 1,475.
Copper scrap heavy, copper armiture, and copper sheet cutting moved down by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 418, Rs 409 and Rs 403 from Rs 420, Rs 411 and Rs 405.
Copper cable scrap, copper wire bar, zinc, lead and gunmetal scrap softened by a Re per kg each to Rs 424, Rs 444, Rs 175, Rs 134 and 371, respectively.
However, brass sheet cutting climbed by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 325 as against overnight level of Rs 321.
Brass utensils scrap moved up by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 315 from Rs 312.
