The incident occurred at the Government Primary School located in Sarona area on the outskirts of the city, when the class was in progress, they said.
"Seven students (all 7-9 years), including a girl, received minor injuries in the incident," Raipur Additional SP Neeraj Chandrakar told PTI.
He said that the students were taken to the district hospital for primary treatment and later admitted to BR Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital from where they were discharged in the evening.
Meanwhile, locals of Sarona area blamed the local administration for "poor" maintenance of the school building.
"The 25-year-old school building was ill-maintained. Despite frequent requests, concerned authorities hardly bothered to undertake maintenance work, which resulted into today's incident," alleged locals.
