SGPC delegation goes to Pakistan

An eight-member delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) today crossed over to Pakistan to hold talks with the government about maintenance of Sikh shrines in the neighbouring country.
Before crossing over to Pakistan, SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar, who is heading the delegation, told reporters on the border at Attari that they were going on the invitation of Pakistan's Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
"We are going to hold talks about the maintenance of Sikh shrines in Pakistan," the head of the SGPC, which is the apex religious body of the Sikhs, said.
Makkar said he would discuss the issue of multi-purpose visa to SGPC employees, including preachers and Sikh scholars, so that they could frequently visit Pakistan to look after the shrines, besides holding religious discourses.
