Sharrmadaa exits to end Indian challenge in singles at ITF

Sharrmadaa Baluu went down to qualifier Chloe Paquet in straight sets in the quarterfinals of the USD 25,000 Ganesh Naik ITF Women's Tennis Championships as Indian challenge ended in singles event today.
France's Chloe scored a 6-4 6-0 win over the Indian wild card entrant in just over a hour at the Navi Mumbai Sports Association in Vashi near here.
It was a bad day for the Bengaluru girl as she went down in the doubles quarterfinal too to end all Indian hopes in the tournament.
Sharrmadaa and her Russian partner Anna Morgina were beaten by Greece's Despina Papamichail and Serbia's Nina Stojanovic 6-3 7-5.
Dutch top seed Cindy Burger survived a fright before scraping her way past Ukrainian Veronika Kapshay 6-4 3-6 6-3 in 2 hours and 20 minutes to make it to the last four of the singles event.
